Favorite Logo Websites and Logos
I have been fascinated by logos ever since I was really young. I especially like the huge variety of different designs. I have also found a few websites that are logo-related that I use.
My favorite logo-related website is the AudioVisual Identity Database (AVID). Registered users can add and describe (and initiate “Talk” pages to discuss) logos used by production and distribution companies, both conventional “static” logos which sometimes use sound, as well as on-screen “production” logos and bumpers which utilize motion and synchronized sound. These logos and bumpers are commonly found on television shows, movies, video games, et cetera. I am an editor on their website. You can browse the pages and forums, or edit them if you have an account.
I also like going to Logopedia, too. It is a wiki going over mainly “print” logos. I like how its front page allows you to view recent logos from the current month and the month before, as well as the April Fools jokes that Logopedia does annually – most recently in 2025 they made the front page look like the Windows BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). One thing I don’t like about Logopedia is how much memory the website uses, slowing it down.
One of my current favorite logos is the September 1986 Lorimar-Telepictures logo. The animation is beautiful with one part resembling fireworks and the fantastic fanfare that comes along with it. I used to think that the Lorimar-Telepictures logo from January 1986 was one of my favorites, but compared to the amazing logo from September, it just doesn’t compare.
One of my favorite trailers of all time is the 1997 “Stampede” or “Tex 2: Moo Can” THX trailer. It has such a cool concept, and it DIDN’T frighten me when I was young like other THX trailers did at the time.
