Logos

I have been interested in logos ever since I was really young. I enjoy how logos all have different designs. I also have found a few websites that are logo-related that I sometimes use.

My favorite logo-related website is the AudioVisual Identity Database (AVID). It is an interesting website that features and discusses both conventional “static” and on-screen “production” logos (and bumpers), used by production and distribution companies which often utilize motion and synchronized sound. These are commonly found on television shows, movies, video games, et cetera. I am an editor on their website. You can browse the pages and forums or edit them if you have an account.

One of my current favorite logos is the September 1986 Lorimar-Telepictures logo. The animation is beautiful with one part even resembling what fireworks look like, as well as the fantastic fanfare that comes along with it. I used to think the Lorimar-Telepictures logo from January of the same year might have been one of my favorites, but compared to the logo from September, it just doesn’t stand up.

One of my favorite trailers of all time is the 1997 “Stampede” or “Tex 2: Moo Can” THX trailer. It has such a cool concept, and it DIDN’T frighten me when I was young like other THX trailers did at the time.
