I Effing Love Listening to Music!

My favorite streaming services to listen to music in order of preference are Spotify, YouTube, and Pandora. (I also own some CDs.) I stream through an Apple iMac desktop computer connected to an old Onkyo stereo receiver and Infinity speakers or Bose wireless noise-cancelling headphones. I am fascinated with learning about and exploring a variety of music genres and sub-genres.

I have been a fan of Green Day and Linkin Park since I was a preteen. Over the last few years, I also began to listen to and enjoy some Pink Floyd. Several more bands I like are ones that my father had introduced to me, such as The Dandy Warhols, The Sisters of Mercy, and Front Line Assembly.

I also have recently started to get into some of the mainstream pop musicians which I first heard on the radio when I was a young child. I especially love Lady Gaga. Two more female pop singers I like are Kesha and Katy Perry. Outside of mainstream, Ladytron is an alternative pop band whose sound is quite unique, combining a nostalgic ’80s and ’90s sound with a futuristic vibe reminiscent of the mainstream pop of the late ’00s and early ’10s.

I also really like post-punk and new wave music from the ’70s and ’80s. One example is another band my father introduced to me, Public Image Ltd, who are known for their experimental sound. Another influential band I like that falls into this category is Joy Division.

Several music genres that I DON’T currently listen to or enjoy much include jazz, country, rap, blues, R&B, and folk.
